We support creative nonfiction publishers, writers of color, and LGBTQIA+ writers in preparing their manuscripts or documents for publishing.
Specialities: memoir, personal essay, flash, cultural criticism, anthologies, and literary magazines.
Services: manuscript evaluation & edit, copyediting, proofreading, sensitivity reading, and ghostwriting or co-writing.
Business
We support start-ups, small businesses, community-based organizations, nonprofits, minority- and women-owned businesses, and LGBTQIA+ owned businesses in preparing grant proposals and external communication.
Specialities: proposals, articles/reports, one-pagers, newsletters, and announcements.
Services: copyediting, proofreading, sensitivity reading, and web/SEO editing.
Academic & Educational
We support students, educators, trainers, and researchers in the humanities and social sciences in preparing written work.
Academic Specialities: course papers and assignments, dissertations and theses, and journal articles.

Darina Mayfield (she/her) is a writer, editor, and the founder of Gerry Dean Editorial.
She's a graduate of the University of Washington's writing and editing programs, an upcoming alumna of the Kenyon Review Writing Workshop, and a Roots. Wounds. Words. Storyteller of Color Fellow (Winter '24) and Writer-in-Residence (Fall '24). Her work has been published by the Urban Design Forum and the Hudson Valley Writers Guild, where she is a regular contributor.
In addition to managing Gerry Dean Editorial, Darina is an editorial assistant and reader for the literary magazine Under The Gum Tree.
Darina is a member of the American Copy Editors Society, Association of Writers & Writing Programs, Editorial Freelancers Association, and the Northwest Editors Guild.
